About

Mia Illustrated

A picture, an illustration, of yours truly.

Kiyamia Designs is the design company of moi, Mia Siven, a Central Florida based graphic and web designer. Established in 2010, Kiyamia Designs is starting out small and I will happily take on appropriate projects. Currently I am building the company and gladly work with other like minded creatives. Kiyamia Designs clients include a number of small businesses globally.

My goal as a designer is to create beautiful and functional websites that work for a clients full range of needs. I strive to create standards compliant websites with HTML and CSS. Learning has always been close to my heart and I believe that the only way to be successful on the web is by learning, changing and adapting. Each new project allows me to learn something new and I thoroughly embrace the challenge.

My design work began at the humble age of 13 while making menus and flyers for my parents’ cafe/florist and fancy hand drawn flyers for a local ice cream cafe (see image). Being paid in ice-cream sundaes has its perks, but it doesn’t pay the bills. And using Microsoft Word does not create very good designs (although you might be amazed to see what I can do). I think every designer/coder on the web was required at some point to have a Geocities website in the 90′s, and I was one of them (Winnie-the-Pooh, not the most professional choice for content, is just so darn cute!).

Fabulous Design

After the International Baccalaureate art classes in high school I went off to art school in Boston and had a blast. My classes included figure studies, design principles, oil painting, watercolors, intaglio printing (aka etching) and many others. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. As it turns out, oil paintings doesn’t pay the bills either. So after a few odd jobs my career steered itself to graphic design, web design and all those other -igns and -ings.

Currently I live with my significant other and two very fuzzy cats. When I’m not designing or absorbing all things design at my computer you will most likely find me at the Kundalini Yoga Center in a strange position chanting something in Sanskrit.

So glad you stopped by the site, looking forward to meeting lots of interesting people. Take a look at the portfolio and check out the blog for useful information.

Look forward to hearing from you!
